BGMEA Market Development Meeting Held to Boost Global Apparel Exports Sees Participation of Rich Cotton Apparels Limited Managing Director Mamun Reza Jake.

Market development and diversification is one of the key priorities of BGMEA’s present board to facilitate sustainable growth of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment industry.

In line with this objective, BGMEA held the first meeting with the Chairmen and Co-Chairmen of the Market Development Standing Committees on 17 January 2026 at the BGMEA Complex. More such meetings will take place regularly to strengthen coordination and accelerate market expansion efforts.

The meeting reviewed upcoming international trade fairs, buyer engagement initiatives, market development strategies, visa-related matters, and opportunities in both traditional and non-traditional markets.

The meeting was chaired by Mijanur Rahman, Vice President (Finance). Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Director, and M. Shajedul Karim, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Trade Fair and Events, BGMEA, were also present.

The meeting was attended by chairmen of the standing committees including Poritosh Chandra Paul (Argentina), Mamun Reza Jake (South Africa), Shofiqul Alam (France), Md. Nasir (Singapore and Malaysia), Md. Shafiqul Alam (UAE), and Md. Jewel Hossain (China), along with Md. Iqbal, Co-Chairman for Singapore and Malaysia, and Md. Amir, Co-Chairman for the UAE. Mike Ge, President of the Chinese Enterprises Association in Bangladesh (CEAB), joined the meeting and shared an overview of China-Bangladesh business relations, as well as insights on the BCGTX fair scheduled to be held in May 2026.

Participants shared their views and put forward recommendations aimed at strengthening market outreach, enhancing buyer engagement, and expanding Bangladesh’s apparel exports in key global markets.
